SML system requirements

 

Stirlitz Media Logger – Audio

SML servers can receive audio through (multiple/multi-channel) sound cards, including:

  • Windows compatible sound cards
  • Axia driver
  • AM/FM/DAB/DAB+ Radcap tuner cards (6 or 24 channel tuner for FM, 4 to 20 for AM, one DAB/DAB+ ensemble)
  • AudioScience 4 or 8 channel FM/AM/PAL/NTSC (audio-only) tuner cards
  • multiple Internet streams using virtual sound cards (mp3 streams, Windows Media Player compatible streams, streams played by Flash players embedded on web pages)

Four different configurations:

SML Server – up to 4 stations

  • 2 GHz single-core CPU + 2GB RAM
  • FM Radcap 6 card, or multiple input sound card, or virtual card for Internet streams

SML Server – up to 8 stations

  • 2.5 GHz single-core CPU + 4GB RAM
  • FM Radcap 24 card, or multiple input sound card, or virtual card for Internet streams

SML Server – up to 24 stations

  • Intel Core 2 Quad CPU + 4GB RAM
  • FM Radcap 24 card, or multiple input sound card, or virtual card for Internet streams

All configurations

  • Windows 7 / XP Pro or Windows 2008 / 2003 Server, 32bit or 64bit
  • 10GB for system data + 20GB HDD space for each station, for 30 days, mp3, 44.1kHz mono
    80 GB to store 30 days of 4 stations
    160 GB to store 30 days of 8 stations
    240 GB to store 30 days of 12 stations
    480 GB to store 30 days of 24 stations
  • Intel chipset and CPU

Supported storage configurations:

  • local disks (recommended RAID 1/5/6 using enterprise class disks), NTFS filesystem
  • NAS – remote over iSCSI protocol, NTFS filesystem
  • SAN – remote over Fiber Channel, NTFS filesystem

Radio capturing:

  • For capturing radio-signals (AM or FM or DAB/DAB+) we suggest Innescorp Radcap cards (6 or 24 channels), allowing you to control the tuners remotely as well. NOTE: this card needs a 32bit PCI slot, 3.3V and 5V systems.

Recommended multi-channel audio cards:

  • Lynx Studio –AES/EBU capture cards
  • M-Audio, Marian – analog capture cards
  • RME – MADI capture cards
  • Audioscience – analog and AES/EBU capture cards
  • Axia – Windows driver

SML Logger – Video

SML Video servers can receive video through (multiple/multi-channel) video cards, including:

  • Euresys Picolo U-series (4, 8 or 16 channels composite video + mono audio, hardware compression)
  • Blackmagic Decklink (SDI, HDMI, software compression)
  • Winnov (1 channel composite video + stereo audio, software compression)
  • DekTec - ASI interface – multi-channel DVB-ASI stream
  • Over network – SD/HD MPEG video / MPEG-TS stream (compatible with DVB broadcast)

Configuration up to 16 channels:

  • single Quad Core Intel CPU, 4GB RAM
  • 0.5TB storage per station per month – with MPEG4, full resolution, 1500kbps stream
  • Server: Windows 7 or Windows 2008, 32bit or 64bit

Supported storage configurations:

    - require 1 PCIe x1 slot
    - full height, half length card
    - BNC video inputs (composite)
    - maximum average bitrate 2000kbps/channel
    - mono audio inputs, 16bit PCM

Available models:

  • Picolo U16 H.264 – 16 channels video + 16 mono audio
  • Picolo U8 H.264 – 8 channels video + 8 mono audio
  • Picolo U4 H.264 – 4 channels video + 4 mono audio

Server – Capture over network:

  • SD/HD MPEG2 / H.264 video in MPEG-TS stream (DVB compatible broadcast) over HTTP or UDP

Server – Capture over ASI interface:

  • HTML5 web based SML Player: latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or IE browser with latest Flash plugin installed on Windows, OS X or Linux, iOS 5 device with Safari browser, Android 2.3+ device with Flash installed
  • Java SML Player: any modern browser with latest Java SE installed, on Windows, OS X or Linux
