SML system requirements
Requirements Stirlitz Media Logger – Audio

SML servers can receive audio from IP sources and through (multiple/multi-channel) sound cards, including:

  • AES67, Axia, WheatNet, Dante (in AES67 compatibility mode) - directly over network without the driver
  • OTT streams - HLS, MPEG-DASH, RTSP, RTMP, MPEG-TS, Icecast
  • Windows compatible sound cards
  • Sonifex AM/FM/DAB/DAB+ Radcap multi-channel PCIe tuner cards
    – PCIe FM 6, 12, 18, 24 or 32 channels
    – AM 6 to 32 channels
    – DAB/DAB+ 1 to 4 ensembles
    all cards expandable through acquisition of an expansion key
  • Audioscience PCIe 4 or 8 channel mix of AM/FM or HD Radio/DAB/DAB+ tuner cards
  • Legacy support: Axia, Wheatstone and Dante AoIP drivers

Four different configurations:

SML Server – up to 4 stations

  • CPU: Intel Xeon or Core, one physical core (Single-core); RAM: 4 GB
  • FM Radcap 6 card, or multiple input sound card, or virtual card for Internet streams

SML Server – up to 8 stations

  • CPU: Intel Xeon or Core, two physical cores (Dual-core); RAM: 8 GB
  • FM Radcap 12 card, or multiple input sound card, or virtual card for Internet streams

SML Server – up to 24 stations

  • Intel Xeon or Core, four physical cores (Quad-core); RAM: 8 GB
  • FM Radcap 24 card, or multiple input sound card, or virtual card for Internet streams

SML Server – up to 32 stations

  • Intel Xeon or Core, six physical cores (Six-core or two Quad-core); RAM: 8 GB
  • FM Radcap 32 card, or multiple input sound card, or virtual card for Internet streams

All configurations

  • Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows 10 (Etnerprise LTSC recommended)
  • 10GB for system data + 20GB HDD space for each station, for 30 days, mp3, 44.1kHz mono
    80 GB to store 30 days of 4 stations
    160 GB to store 30 days of 8 stations
    240 GB to store 30 days of 12 stations
    640 GB to store 30 days of 32 stations

Supported storage configurations:

  • Primary online storage: NTFS filesystem; local disks (recommended RAID 6 using enterprise class disks); NAS over iSCSI; SAN over Fiber or similar;
  • Secondary online storage: Local or NAS/SAN – network over SMB protocol

Radio capturing:

  • For capturing multiple radio-signals (AM or FM or DAB/DAB+) we suggest Sonifex Radcap cards (up to 32 channels FM or AM, or four ensembles DAB/DAB+) or AudioScience ASI8821/8921 (up to 8 channel AM/FM mix, or up to 8 channels HD Radio/DAB/DAB+ up to 8 channels audio off NTSC/PAL/SECAM), allowing you to control the tuners remotely as well.

  • Audioscience – analog and AES/EBU capture cards
  • Digigram – analog and AES/EBU capture cards
  • Sonifex Auricon (analog) and Digitorc (AES/EBU) capture cards
  • RME – MADI capture cards
  • Axia, Wheatstone and Dante - Windows drivers
